DRAKE
Gloria "Gojakes"
passed away on August 1, 2015. Gloria's story is one that needs many more words than can be shared here, but we will try. She was among the kindest souls who walked this green earth, though not many people know that her convictions were steel. She spoke softly but laughed very hard. She cared deeply about her family but also about her friends and her friends' friends. She literally would give the shirt of her back for anyone who needed it. She found it very difficult to leave voice messages but you definitely knew it was her. She was very articulate and intelligent, but after 62 years, she called #66 hockey great "Mario Lemoo". Despite being a very empathetic, sympathetic and kind spirit, she cried very little. She never, ever complained. Ever. It was funny to see her mad, because it happened rarely and was amusingly sweet. On the telephone, she would talk, and talk, and talk more. She had a lot to say, but rarely anything negative. She was a very courageous woman, and we, her children, are very proud to call her momma. It might be best to describe Gloria in three words she often asked, especially of her children: "Are you happy?" Gloria is survived by: Hannah (mother), Lisa (daughter and husband Daniel, children Joshua, Rebecca and Noah); Sonia (daughter, her fiancé Emmanuel and children Bradley and Keesha) and Len (son and wife Nadine, child Kaitlen); siblings Eleanor, Pat, Christine, Ursula, Les, Roger, Gertrude, Lorne; good friend John and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Gojakes is reunited with her father Leslie and granddaughter Ashley. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Avenue on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 1 to 5pm for family members only. A service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 11am at Barrett's Funeral Chapel 328 Hamilton Avenue open to all to bid Gloria farewell.
