NEW GLASGOW / LITTLE HARBOUR – Margaret Ann “Peggy” MacNeil, 59, New Glasgow, formerly of Little Harbour, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Frank Herbert MacNeil Jr. and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” MacNeil MacEwan. Peggy was employed with TD Canada Trust, New Glasgow for over 30 years, retiring in February of this year. She also served as a Justice of the Peace in New Glasgow and previously in the Yukon where she had been employed as a court reporter in earlier years. Peggy was a member of Little Harbour Presbyterian Church, Little Harbour. She was an associate member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29, Trenton where she had served as treasurer for several years. Peggy volunteered her time with the Children’s Wish Foundation, Crime Stoppers and was very active in her community. She enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo, socializing with her many friends and being with her little dog, Nipper. Peggy was a loving sister and aunt, who was very supportive of her niece’s and nephew’s endeavours.
Surviving are her brothers, Bruce (Ruth), Stan (Anne) and Murdo (Karen), Little Harbour; aunt, Mardy MacNeil, New Glasgow; uncle, Stan (Naida) MacLeod, New Glasgow; nieces, Leigh, Shannon and Olivia; nephews, Conor and Joel; great-niece, Marijane; great-nephew, Blair; many cousins and friends.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Little Harbour Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lorne MacLeod officiating. Interment will be in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour.
The MacNeil family wish to thank, Phyllis MacDonald, her neighbour and friend, for the love and support shown to Peggy over the years.
