BENSON, MINA GERALDINE
(1928-2015)
Mrs. M. Geraldine Benson of Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island, passed away at The Grand Manan Hospital on Monday, August 3, 2015 with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Blanche (Beal) Miller. Geraldine spent many years as the supporting wife of a light keeper.
Geraldine and her husband Laurence would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this October. Often they could be seen out driving around, stopping for a meal or an ice cream. They didn’t have children of their own, but Geraldine enjoyed a special relationship with all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
Geraldine is survived by her husband Mr. Laurence Benson; one sister, Margaret (Ray) Urquhart from North Head; many nieces and nephews. Geraldine was predeceased by one infant sister Clara Isabel. Four brothers; Merrill, Harley, Robert and Roy Miller.
There will be visiting, from the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Thursday August 6th, from 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the church on Friday August 7, 2015 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Peter Smith officiating and Rev. Ward McComiskey assisting.
Geraldine’s family have requested donations be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
