MacQUARRIE, Victoria Ann, passed peacefully under care at the QEII on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. Born October 4,1945 in Shelburne, NS to Madelyn (O’Connor) Mahaney and Keith Mahaney, Ann had one brother, Lamont Mahaney by whom she is survived. Ann dedicated her life to taking care of her loved ones and making a home for her family. As a loving and thoughtful wife, mother and grandmother, Ann always put the wants and needs of everyone else before her own. By example she demonstrated to all that knew her that family is more important than anything else. Fresh air and long walks (often with a dog in tow) in Upper Tantallon, where she lived for the past twelve years, and the warm winters in Florida kept a smile on her face. That warming smile will be sadly missed by those it touched. With her quiet strength and positive aspect Ann could see blue skies peeking through on even the cloudiest day. Ann loved animals (four legged and feathered) and they were drawn to her in a way that was a testimony to the kindness of her spirit. Leaving behind devoted husband Roy MacQuarrie; children, Crystal Bower, Chad Bower (his wife Christine and their children Kyle and Alex); stepdaughter, Cheryl Jones (her husband Grant and their children Callum and Cooper). Ann will be missed immensely but her loving smile and memory will live on with us. There will be a private committal and no service will be held. In her memory donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
