JACQUARD, (Colbourne) Dorothy Isabelle - of Pembroke, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on August 4, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Plaster Rock, Victoria Co. N.B, she was a daughter to the late Courtney and Vivian Colbourne. Dorothy went to business College and a year of accounting. She also worked in a number of offices in Dartmouth and Yarmouth and taught Sunday School for 35 years, in Sackville N.S., Stevens Rd. UB Church in Dartmouth, Cole Harbour UB Church which she helped start and at Zion UB Church. Dorothy was also secretary at Zion Church, church clerk, member of the Christian education board, leadership board, Women’s Missionary Society, worship committee, assistant Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school superintendent and a leader of an after school group of 12 boys. A volunteer at Tidal View Manor and was leader of a self help group called Recovery, helping people with depression, phobias etc. She went to Chicago for training and shorter training sessions in N.B. and Ontario. Dorothy was the wife of Robert Jacquard; mother of Ruby Etheridge (Mark), Keswick, ON; Patty Shirley, Yarmouth; and Ronda Doucette (Tracy) of Hubbard’s Point; brother, Dennis Colbourne; sisters, Sharon Hebert (George) and Debbie Toner (Wayne) all of Plaster Rock N.B.; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren. Besides her parents Dorothy was predeceased by son William (Bill) Shirley of Surrey B.C. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Friday, August 7, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Brian Wallace officiated. Interment was in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to Recovery International Canada which she became leader in 2006.
