Kenneth Richard Williams
May 3, 1930 - August 2, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Granddad and Great-Granddad Kenneth Richard Williams of Moose Jaw on August 2, 2015. Dad was born, raised and spent most of his adult life in Moose Jaw. It was in Moose Jaw the Dad met and married his Kindred Spirit Betty Nevill in 1950. Together they raised two children and ran a successful floor covering business R.T. Williams and Son. Dad was very active in the community. He started the Crighton Park Association in the 60's so that the local kids could have some where to skate and have a shack to keep warm in during the winter. He was a member of the Moose Jaw and Saskatchewan Construction Associations, where he achieved a life time membership. He was president of the YMCA of Moose Jaw and a long-time member of the Moose Jaw Kinsmen and K-40 club. Dad loved to hunt and go fishing up north. First with his son and then fishing with his long-time friend Jim Anderson. In later years Dad would take his grandsons fishing, or was it they took him fishing? Mom and Dad loved to spend time at the cabin on Buffalo Lake in the summer and to travel to warmer climates in the winter. They traveled all over for many years but in the end settled on Barbados where they spent many a winter enjoying the sun. Dad’s family was very important to him. He was always there to give advice, a helping hand, or just take over a project if need be. Dad is survived by his children: Janet Ryan of Regina and Paul (Carol) Williams of Red Deer; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister Beve (Dieter) Baumgart of Victoria, BC. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Betty (2009), great-grandson Duncan Olsen (2001), son-in-law Mike Ryan (2012) and sister Viola (2010). At Dad’s request there was a private family interment. A Memorial Tea will be held at Jones Family Center, 262 Athabasca St.E., on Thursday August 13, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Moose Jaw YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. In living memory of Ken, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
