MARTHA ELFREDA KLASSEN (née Redekopp)
Martha passed away peacefully with her family by her side Thursday, August 6th, 2015 at age 93 years. Martha’s faith was very strong and she trusted in the Lord every day. She was predeceased by her husband, Jake in 2005; daughter, Judy Thiessen in 1985; son-in-law, Brian Peterson in 2010; as well as two sisters and seven brothers. Martha is survived by her children: daughter, Doreen Peterson and granddaughters Deanna (Rod) Ratcliffe and Cody, Rhonda (Jarad) Welle, daughter, Wendy (Howie) Verity and grandsons Jeremey (Wendy) Verity and Chad (Stephanie) Verity; two grandsons, Chris (Karla) Thiessen and Jeff (Carmelle) Thiessen; Wayne and Sandy Thiessen and Sara (Jory) Dietz; great-grandchildren: Tyler and Andrew Verity, Emelia Verity, Avery Thiessen, Sierra and Laynee Thiessen; sister, Ruth (Frank) Klassen; brothers: Art Redekopp, Vic Redekopp and Ray (Blanche) Redekopp; as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. Martha married Jake on October 19th, 1946 and they farmed at Kelstern, SK until 1954. When the farm was sold, they moved to Moose Jaw. Martha worked at the Union Hospital and Pioneer Lodge as a Nurses Aide until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed singing, playing the organ, guitar and accordion. Martha loved playing games with anyone who came to visit and would usually win. She will be dearly missed by all her family, friends and those whose lives she touched. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 17th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A private family viewing will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Dwayne Uglem will officiate and interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martha’s name may be made to the Salvation Army, 175 – 1st Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 0Y9. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
