Anna White

The family of Anna White of East Cumberland Lodge, formerly of Joggins and River Hebert wishes to announce her peaceful passing on Aug 8, 2015 with her family by her side. Anna was a loving mother of 6 children, Jim (Gail), Vivian (John) Glennie, Roger (Cindy), Annamarie (Jack) Hedley, Robbie (Lorna), PJ (Barb). Nine grandchildren, Brent, Jason, Carla, Chris, Sally, Alan, Derrek, Dustin and Michaila and 14 great grandchildren.
Our mom was very young at heart and never felt that she was aging. She especially enjoyed catching up on the gossip and the lives of her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although she didn’t like to discuss her age, she was 82 years young, and she would have been upset with us for revealing her age.
Mom liked to travel and enjoyed playing bingo and yard sales. She also especially loved a good game of cards accompanied by a cigarette and a hot cup of tea. She had many Sunday night card battles with her brother in-law Perry, his wife Margie and her special friend Sherri Glennie, which usually ended up with her evicting Perry for cheating.
To sum it up, she was an endearing “colourful character” and her family was her life and her support when our father Eddie passed in Sept of 2005, followed by her beloved daughter Vivian in 2006. Following Vivian’s death, mom received a wonderful gift of a small poodle named Daisy who became her best friend and companion until she moved to East Cumberland Lodge in February 2015. She was also very blessed to have had such wonderful relationships with Dad’s brothers, sisters and their spouses as she loved each and everyone of them dearly. Our Mother was the Matriarch of the family and she will be missed by her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
A very special thanks to the wonderful staff at East Cumberland Lodge for being so kind and taking such great care of mom. Also to Sherri Glennie, who trekked down Barronsfield Rd., every night to check on mom and have a game of cards, your kindness will never be forgotten.
To honour mom’s request there will be no visitation, a graveside service will be held at the River Hebert Cemetery on Tuesday August 11, 2015 at 11:00 am followed by a reception at the Joggins Legion.
Memorial donations may be made to District 9 Development Association or the LA Animal Shelter.
