We regret to announce the death of Charlie, 57 years old, of 4775 Shore Rd., Eskasoni on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., he was the son of the late Angeline Denny-Gould and Mike Christmas of Kitimat, B.C. and raised by his parents, the late Levi & Clara (Gould) Denny.
He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. A truck driver by trade, Charlie was a big Boston Bruins and Red Sox fan who also enjoyed pool, bowling, camping and socializing with his many friends. He will be sadly missed by them and also his loyal companion, ‘Buddy’.
He is survived by his loving companion, Rosie Basque; his nine children, Charlene (Bert), Timothy ‘T.C.’ (Natalie), Mary Ann (Brad), Kathey, Charles Jr. ‘Bomber’, Ashley, Kristen (Bert), Nicholas, Anne (Siggy) and the mother of his children, Sandra Denny, all of Eskasoni; sisters, Bridget Ann (Russell), Brenda (John), Elaine, Arlene (Norman), Kim (Fred), Sonya (Terrence), Deanna, Shauna (Captain), all of Eskasoni, Michelle Christmas, Vancouver Island, Kelly Christmas, Penticton, B.C., Cindy (Jose), Ottawa; brothers, Andrew (Gali), Paul (Darlene), Jeff (Ida), Keith, Richie (Chastity), all of Eskasoni; by aunts, Josephine Paul, Virgina Googoo, Janie Gould, Nancy Paul, Julie Christmas, Jean Labobe; uncles, Steve Christmas, John Christmas and Ernie Knockwood. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren, Danelle, Simon, Johnny, Kass, Anglena, Charlie Storm, Marianna, Zacharias, Rossco, Khaila, Sandreea, Spencer, Kenzie, Adisyn, Connor, Alayah, Bert Jr. and Nick Jr. and six godchildren, Leon Sylliboy, Travis Denny, Blair Charles Francis, Jill Googoo, Dale Young, Charles Francis Jr.
Charlie was predeceased by daughter, Carol Ann; son, Bryan; grandson, Bryan Basque; brothers, Leonard and Walter; stepfather, Milton Gould and best friend, Kevin Stevens.
Visitation for Mr. Denny will take place on Saturday after 7 p.m. at his residence 4775 Shore Rd., Eskasoni. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Fr. Angus MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
