We the family of Philip Barry MacDonald regret to announce his passing on Aug. 14, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Sydney, Philip was the son of the late Angus and Florence (MacLean, Washabuck) MacDonald, of Sydney.
Philip was a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care Center at the time of his passing. Previously, he had been a resident of Braemore Home (Breton Ability Center) and Leeside Drive group home. Philip Barry, who was born with Downs Syndrom was a kind gentle soul who was well-liked wherever he went. He was very social and enjoyed activities and outings that included others.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother Philip, in infancy, brother-in-law Weldon Cleaves and nephew Paul Cleaves.
We would like to thank the staff of Breton Ability Center, Leeside Drive and Harbourstone, for all the love, care and kindness shown to our brother. You have truly gone beyond the call of duty and you will always be remembered for your compassion and thoughtfulness. Also we would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, especially Dr. Tim Currie and Dr. Paul Murphy, for their care and compassion at such a difficult time. It was greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place in Washabuck, and will be announced at a later date.
