Mary Arlene 'Arlie' (Libbus) Lynch

It comes with great heartache and sorrow, that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Mary Arlene 'Arlie' Lynch on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born Feb. 16, 1938, she was a daughter of the late John 'Jack' and Mary Margaret Ryan 'Peg' Lynch.
In her younger years, mom was employed by Woolworths, Crowells, Penny’s Dry Cleaners, Moirs Chocolate, Woolco and retired from Walmart where she began her new career as full-time grandmother and babysitter to her grandchildren and grandnephews. Mom was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Theresa’s parish where she practised her religion from being the first twins baptized in her parish. Special thanks to Fr George of St Peter’s who prayed for all and was with her on Aug. 14 and to the numerous healthcare workers from Halifax to Sydney & the rehab centre in Sydney Mines.
Left to mourn her loss are children, Charlene (Carson) Ferguson, Davy Libbus, Bernadette (Joe) Hickey, Jerry Libbus, all of Sydney, Gordie (Colleen) Livingstone, N.B.; sisters, Gerry (Norman 'Butch') Campbell, Grand River, Jackie Briand (Joe Gillis), Antigonish, Patsy (Stuart) Murgatroyd, Sydney; special aunts, Marilyn Ryan, Delores Fraser, New Waterford, Vange Gaudette, Sydney; grandchildren, Evan Nemeth, Digby, Joey Hickey, Sydney, Chris Barklay, Ontario, Robert and Cody Livingstone, N.B., Eleena Ratchford and Bender, Sydney; great-granddaughter Freya Nemeth, Digby; special grandnephews whom she referred to as her grandsons, Justin and Brandon Lund, Sydney; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and grandnieces, nephews.
Besides her parents, Arlie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Libbus, eldest sister Shirley MacNeil and twin Theresa MacKinnon.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Funeral Mass will take place 11 a.m., Wednesday in St Theresa’s Parish, Fr. Lamey officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends are asked to attend a reception at the funeral home after the interment.
Donations may be made to the Diabetes Association, Heart & Stroke, or the Kidney Foundation.
