It is with deepest sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Mary Cora (Butts) Head, 85 on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 at Maple Hill Manor with her family and best friend, Etta Head by her side.
Born in New Waterford, Cora was the daughter of the late Ronald and Gladys (Butt) Butts.
Cora was a very compassionate lady. She enjoyed baking, going for walks and playing bingo. She was a member of the former St. Agnes Church.
Cora is survived by daughters, Bernadette (Michael) Bennett, Kaye (Carl) Kanne, Charlotte (Eric) Doyle; sons, Robert (Lena), James (Margaret); sisters, Germaine (Frank) Demiche, Caroline (John) Donovan, Cavell Emoff, Alice (late Norman) Lateigne, Rosie (Guy) Natche and two brothers, Frankie Butts, Rannie (Shirley) Butts.
Cora is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cora was predeceased by her husband, William Head in 1986; her oldest son, William Head Jr. on Aug. 9, 2015, three sons in infancy, Gerald, Gerard, Bobby; grandson, Billy Head; sisters, Janet (late Donald) Tatlock, Patricia Closs, Winnie (late Bernie) Brown, Renie (late Buster) MacLeod, Aggie (late Archie) MacLeod, Lorrie (late Duff) Sarizzan and her brother, Gregory Butts.
Visitation is Thursday evening from 5-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Ray Huntley is Friday, 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church followed by interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. The reception is at St. Leonard Hall.
We, the family, would like to thank all nurses and staff of Maple Hill Manor for their professionalism and compassionate care while looking after mom. Also to Dr. Peter Littlejohn who looked after mom the past few years and to Dr. Ian Oei who took care of mom for many years.
In memory of Cora donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
