OMAN: James (Jim) passed away peacefully at the Palliser Regional Care Centre on August 10, 2015 at the age of 89. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home. The Interment Service was held from Memory Gardens Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Jaime Oman, Danielle Huber, Sheri Lind, Chelsey Oman, Alysse Oman, Jessica Elliott, and Scott Elliott, and the piper was Nicole Rewerts. Jim was born on May 29, 1926 to William (Bill) Sr. and Louise Oman at their home south of Swift Current, SK. Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Viola Oman; children Marilyn (Dan) Huber of Athabasca, AB, Rod (Sheila) Oman of Sooke, BC, and Brian (Bev) Oman of Swift Current, SK; grandchildren Danielle Huber of New York, NY, Sheri (Huber) Lind of Athabasca, AB, Jamie Chelsey, and Alysse Oman of Sooke, BC, Scott Elliott, Jessica Elliott (Shannon Robinson) of Calgary, AB; great grandchildren Brooke Lind of Athabasca, AB, Ella Robinson, Payton Elliott, and Braxson Elliott of Calgary, AB; sister-in-law Luella Klaudt; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) Sr. and Louise Oman; brothers Bill Jr., Gordon, and Don Oman; sister Louise Hill; and many other family members and relatives. At the early age of 12, Jim became a wrangler for the City of Swift Current's cattle herd. He went to school at Oman School until grade seven, at which time he took on numerous positions at local farms. He started working for the Saskatchewan Brewers Association, when he was 21 and drove taxi in Swift Current part time for four years. Jim was a very active in the Eagles Club and later in the Royal Canadian Legion. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting and playing crib. He reitired from the SBA at the young age of 63, after 42 years of service. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home.
