Janet passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital with friends and family by her side. Janet, at the age of 71, beloved wife of Doug for over 52 years. Loving mother of Cheryl (Michael) Gurney, Patti (Darryl) Laslo and Jess, and her as-close-as-son Shane LeBouthillier. Cherished grandmother of Brittany (Matthew), Devin, Mercedes and Random. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Shane Hallsworth, her sister-in-law Bernadette Thompson, and by many nieces, nephews and friends, especially Mal Fish, a longtime friend. Janet was born on March 17, 1944 to Arthur and Pearl Thompson in Regina, SK. She attended and graduated from the Balfour Technical School in Regina. She met Doug at a party with friends and the couple were wed on April 13, 1963. Shortly after, they moved to Moose Jaw to begin their family and life together. Janet worked in several clerical positions over the years, but also worked for a time at the Valley View Center. After her retirement in 1988, she focused her attention on raising her beloved Shelties at her kennel, Sandsound, becoming well known for raising Champion Shelties and Coonhounds. She enjoyed her floral gardens at home, but overall, she loved to spend time with family and friends, appreciating a formal dinner. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family would like to thank Dr. Mark Brown and Dr. Fauzi Ramadan, and all the nurses and staff at the Moose Jaw Hospital who cared for her. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 1:30 pm at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. West, Moose Jaw with Reverend Bob Langdon officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, 1755 Stadacona St W, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated by the family.
