Michael Gerard Mahoney

Passed away peacefully at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on August 17, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born in St. John's on February 10, 1949. Predeceased by parents Leo and Margaret Mahoney, his beloved son Michael Sean, his brother Edward, and nephew Gerald. Leaving to mourn his dearly loved daughter Kerri (Doug) Rowe, who lovingly cared for her Dad; siblings Garrett (Kathy) who was also his friend/chauffeur and more, Leo, Sheila (Cyril) Walsh, Corrine (Don) Murphy; Grandchildren Sean and Lee-Anne; Casey, Ryan and Sydney, Great-Grandchildren Michael and Ireland. Also left to mourn are special friends and personal angels Bernice Duke and Doris Mahoney (Ken) - Doris is the mother of his children and with whom he resided during the final months of his illness. Mike also leaves behind many close friends from Salmonier Line and the Goulds where he resided for the last several years; neighbour and long-time friend Butch (Nina), and other good friends, Marvin, Ralph, Tony, Karl, Derek, Bill H, his loyal canine friend Harley, and many others. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. From a very small boy with his dad, Mike began a great passion for country life and he especially loved salmon fishing at his family cabin in Salmonier. During his final hours Mike was surrounded by love (Kerri, Gary, Corrine, Sheila, Doris, Bernice, Frances, Butch and Nina). A special thanks to his caregivers at Serenity Homecare and the nurses of St. Clare's 4East. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home on Lemarchant Road (cremation has taken place). Visitation on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 5-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Caul's on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Topsail Road, St. John's.
