Carmel Vautour

VAUTOUR, CARMEL (ST. ONGE)
September 5, 1926 - August 17, 2015
Carm has finished cramming for her finals. Her prayers and deep devotion to her faith secured her place in heaven where she has reconnected with Dad, baby Marc, Tenny, Gram, and all of her beloved Bulldogs. According to Mom, all dogs go to heaven… even the Chihuahua.
Mom was born in Campbellton, NB on September 5, 1926. She graduated from Villa Terra Sita in Newcastle, NB and then Dalhousie Commercial College. She married Don Vautour in 1951 and the kids started coming in rapid succession. Lise (Muncie) Booth, Abbotsford, BC, Marc (Chantal) Vautour, Gatineau, PQ, John (Cheryl) Vautour, Maryvale, NS, Ann (Evan Carter) Vautour, Toronto, ON, and Mary Clare Vautour, Moncton, NB, along with all her twelve grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, know that Mom is in a better place.
Mom’s calling was caring for others. She was best known for her devotion to her faith, her family, and her love of a good joke. She especially enjoyed when friends dropped in for her ginger snaps and tea.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at Saint John Bosco Catholic Church in Dalhousie, NB on August 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Afterwards we will gather downstairs for a little reception in Mom’s honour.
Please don’t even think of sending cut flowers because Mom did not like flowers dying on her account. She did love animals though so contributions to the local SPCA would be much appreciated.
Special thanks goes out to everyone on 4600, the extramural nurses, Mom’s “little doctor,” and the wonderful staff at Peoples Park Tower.
Mom lived and died on her own terms. She marveled that she was the only person who did not cry when told “the news”… she will be loved and missed by all of us who did cry.
