Neil Williams

Williams, Neil Anthony
With great sadness, the family of Neil Anthony Williams announces his peaceful passing on August 17, 2015. Dad was born in 1928 in Long Reach, New Brunswick, the eldest child of Frank and Zaidee Williams (Gorham); he resided in both Regina, SK and Browns Flat, NB, at the time of his passing.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother Stan. His wife, Eileen (Anderson), passed away in 2010. Dad is remembered with love by his four children and their families: Neil (wife Linda, daughter Sarah and son Will); Cynthia (husband Udai Gill and son Neil Gill); Myrna (husband Dan Breda, daughter Lisa Sayer, and son and daughter in law, Luke and Whitney Sayer); and Martin and his wife, Lori. He is also remembered by his sister and brother in law, Anne and Bill Perry, sister in law, Lil Williams, and numerous friends and relatives with whom he had remained close.
Our father was a wonderful man to spend time with: warm, witty, intelligent, and possessing a great sense of humour. Dad graduated from UNB as a civil engineer; he worked with the federal government for decades in locations across Canada. He retired early, giving notice the day his first grandson was born in 1985, and continued to do consulting work for a few years, helping with flood control as far away as Bangladesh. Dad was also a talented artist who enjoyed drawing, painting and wood working.
Dad met Mum in Moncton; they lived there the first years of marriage and then many years in Sackville, NB, followed by Regina, Thunder Bay, Fredericton and Browns Flat. More than anywhere else, Dad and Mum loved their country place in Browns Flat, where they enjoyed the woods and their gardens, the birds and the deer, and old red tractors. The grandchildren all enjoyed their special time with Mum and Dad at the country house. Throughout his life, our Dad never stopped looking out for his children and grandchildren. We will miss him forever.
A graveside committal service, to be led by Rt Rev George Lemmon, will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, August 26 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Oak Point, followed by a gathering to remember Dad at the Legion Hall on the Olinville Road in Jones Creek. All are welcome to attend and share their memories of our father.
