Murray Bulmer

Murray Bulmer

Bulmer, Murray G
It is with deep sadness that the loving family of Murray Bulmer announces his unexpected passing at the age of 78 in Oromocto on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Born in Aulac, NB on September 21, 1936 he was the son of the late Gordon and Gladys (Carter) Bulmer.
After growing up on the family farm in Aulac, he joined the Royal Canadian Signals Corp in 1955, met and married his lovely bride Maureen in Kingston, Ontario, and created 5 beautiful children. Dad always believed that “you were only as rich as the number of children you had”. He held down several part-time jobs while in the Military, one of which was working at Ward’s Garage in Oromocto. Loving this work and wanting to become “his own boss”, he moved to Sheffield buying the local McGowan’s Corner Esso and proceeded to put his 5 children to work. He loved being surrounded by his and anyone else’s children, especially if they could scoop ice cream at “The Store”. Many a patron of Dad’s could be found playing a friendly game of cards on a slow night at the Corner. Once the business closed and he went to work at UNB Security, he still could be spotted working part-time at the Boyce Farmers Market for either Chuck Harrison, William Mulder or Ross Wetmore where you could hear him shouting “a dollar’s worth of ham for a dollar”, as shyness was not in his vocabulary.
When he wasn’t working, he was supporting every sporting event, if not coaching, that his children, grandchildren or great grandchildren were participating in. You could hear him at the local rinks shouting “Stick Handle, Stick Handle, Shoot, Shoot, Shoot”! As an avid sports fan, he didn’t mind passing along his knowledge of any sport from pool to golf to anyone that would listen. He prided himself on helping out his family, with anything from car maintenance to home repair to chauffeuring. He travelled many a road and loved this beautiful province and country and could be relied on to share his thoughts on local and national politics.
He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 and an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and all those who loved him.
Murray is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maureen (Lynch); children, Doug (Mary Gibson) Bulmer, Cheryl Bulmer, Patricia (Mike) Ward, Mary Lou (Dave) Harvey, and Theresa (special friend Ed Gora) Bulmer; siblings, Alice (Percy) Atkinson, Stanley (Ivy) Bulmer, and Wayne (Janet) Bulmer; brothers in law, Jack Lynch, Raymond (Sylvia) Lynch, and Michael (Helen) Lynch; sister in law, Janette Bulmer; grandchildren, Kyle Gillen, Cody (Ashley) Ward, Brad Ward, Mikaela (Brandon Harris) Ward, Natalie (Edan Welch) Harvey, Scott Coy, Dana, Jonathon, Shawn, Michael, and Michelle Thompson; great grandchildren, Daxon “Bubba” Pearce, Camden Ward, Laura Harris, Jace Coy, and Josh Robinson. Murray will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
