Mack, Albert “Blain”, 56, of Upper Vaughan, Hants County, With broken hearts we announce his passing peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Born on July 6, 1959 in Digby and raised in Hantsport, he was the son of Carolyn “Kaye” (Croft) and the late Robert “Bob” Mack. Blain worked part time as Sheriff’s Deputy with his father who was Hants County Sheriff until his accidental death in 1993. For 33 years Blain worked for The Nova Scotia Department of Justice in Windsor, NS, Sackville, NS and Central NS Correctional Facility in Burnside as a Correctional Officer. He was a singer/musician in various bands over the years including Country Gold, The Fugitives, the Mack family band “The Midnight Special” and he also played in the Soldier’s Creek band with his son, Caleb. Blain’s favourite pastimes were spending time with Janet, (harmonizing, playing guitar together) enjoying family, nature, living at the lake and music jam sessions with family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father, a genuine, kind and patient man with a hilarious sense of humour. He was always quite the character, very positive, open minded and made everyone laugh all the time, even in his last days battling cancer. Blain was always a very strong man both physically and mentally, enabling him to overcome the obstacles of life. He was always a gentleman, turning negative situations into positives. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co-workers and all who knew him. Surviving are his loving spouse, Janet Carbone and her children, Brandy and Bronson Lee; his loving son, Caleb Mack (Tara); step daughters, Amanda Brown, and Brenda (Bruce) Berry; his mother, Carolyn (Kaye) Mack; brothers, Kevin (Lexine); Barry; sister, Melody (Vic) Archer; his grandchildren, Michaela and McKenzie also numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Bob Mack and his maternal grandparents, Albert and Winnifred Croft, paternal grandmother, Hope Mack; his first wife, Karen (Vaughan) Mack. Visitation was held 2-4 & 7-9 Pm Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in the R.D. Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor, A celebration of life service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in the Hantsport Baptist Church, Hantsport. Rev. Mark Hunter and Rev. Terry Coldwell officiated. Interment will be at a later date. Donations in Blain’s memory were requested to be made to the Hants Community Hospital Palliative Care.
