Ryan's vocation was writing and teaching. He leaves behind poetry, novels, lectures, teaching videos and hundreds of notebooks. His interests were many, and his knowledge was vast and diverse. Ryan also earned a living from his flair in the kitchen. He worked at the Lunar Rogue in Fredericton, The Pilot in Toronto and most recently, the Via Allegro Italian Ristorante.

He is also survived by the love of his life, Natalie Layfield of Etobicoke and her father Alan Layfield as well his uncle Robert Murray (Angie), and aunts Cheryl Layton (Donald), and Debra Murray (Sandra Kelly), as well as several cousins.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 31st at 7:00PM.
Ryan was a voracious reader, so in lieu of flowers, a donation of a book or books to a school library, or a gift of textbooks for students at a university would be appropriate and much appreciated.
