With broken hearts we say good-bye to a wonderful woman wife,mother, sister, nanny and great nan, Agnes Joyce Trimm, 76, of Louisbourg, who left us on Aug. 27, 2015 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, surrounded by her family. Her fight with Alzheimers is over. She rests peacefully now.
Joyce came into this world Nov.18, 1938 the fourth child of Edward and Elizabeth (Price) (MacPherson) MacVicar of Louisbourg.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 55 years, Fabian Trimm; daughter, Eileen (Michael) Burke and son, Blair Trimm. She was also privileged to be "mother" to her other boy, David MacPherson. She leaves behind five granddaughters, Kristin (Richie) Campbell, Caitlin (Chuck) Hooper, Meagan (Samantha) Trimm, Jessalyn (Jayson) Burke and Janelle (Jordan) Campbell: three great-grandchildren, Anna (her Anna Banana), Owen and Payton and a special son-in-law, Garfield Campbell.
Joyce is also survived by her siblings, her only brother, Duncan (Chris) MacVicar; sisters, Margaret Wells, Georgina (Richard) Cross, Annie Tanner, Gloria Knickle and Sheila (Greg) Greer and her in-laws, Mabel Tutty, Susie Hersia, Jimmy (Melba) Trimm, Delores (Mike) Gorecky, Diane (George) Lahey, and Glenn (Betty Anne) Trimm.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Betty MacVicar and her daughter, Gloria Campbell.
Joyce was very involved in her community as a member of the Home and School and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Louisbourg Volunteer Fire Department and was a familiar face at Crab Fest. She worked for 30 years at Pecks in Louisbourg and as a young woman at Gorton-Pew/National Sea Products. She could be found many an evening at a local bingo hall with her bingo buddies Eileen, Shirley, Kathleen and Colleen or playing 45s at the weekly "club". Many a happy evenings were spent with friends Ernie and Tishie with music and laughter followed by a late night snack. Her Boxing Day meals were legendary. You were always welcome in her home.
A warm thank you is sent to the staff of MacDougall Court at Harbourstone for their care and support over the past 10 months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Willow Grove Cemetary Fund or a charity of choice.
Join us in saying goodbye to Joyce on Sunday, September 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney . Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug 31st at 11 a.m. at First United Church, Main Street, Louisbourg, with Rev. Emily Duggan officiating.
