Lillian 'Lilla' MacKeigan (nee Hay) passed away on Aug. 28, 2015, at Sydney Mines, N.S., with loving family at her side.
She was born Dec. 25, 1941 at Sydney Mines, the daughter of George and Irene Hay. Although she worked as a secretary and a pharmacy technician, Lilla’s life and heart revolved around family and friends. Her house was always a welcoming gathering-place and her focus was on caring for others. She was an avid gardener and birdwatcher and an accomplished seamstress who especially loved sewing for her grandchildren. Lilla loved sketching, painting, and playing the piano, and will be sadly missed at family art and music nights.
She is lovingly missed by her children, Sherry (Terry) Ramsey, Denise Howatson (Wayne MacDougall), Gary (Cheryl) MacKeigan and Darren MacKeigan, all of Sydney Mines and Krista (Bruce) Miller of North East Margaree; her sister, Sheila Lindholm of Lake Stevens, WA; her beloved grandchildren, Meggan, Emily, Mark, Sarah, Aimee, Lily, Colin, Caida, Paige and Abel; extended family, and many dear friends, especially close family friends, Eleanor and Andrew Marks.
She was predeceased by her husband, Russell MacKeigan; her parents and her sisters, Mary Hay and Elizabeth (Libby) Johansen.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sydney Mines.
