Katharina Gotzmeister

Gotzmeister, Katharina (Klein)
Surrounded by her loving family, Katharina (Klein) Gotzmeister passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital as a result of injuries she received in a fall. Mom is now reunited with dad (John) with whom she shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.
Born in Upper Austria, Romania on January 5, 1920, she was the third child of the late Martin Sr. and Rosina (Emerich) Klein. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Maria Schuster and Susanna Seiler of Austria.
Mom raised her daughters with a very strong work ethic as she was taught by her parents. She was a kind, caring and very giving person. She was a great cook of homemade soups and dishes, especially her famous cabbage rolls and sauerkraut. Katharina had been a member of the former Hope Lutheran Church and she worked at the former Lantic Sugar Refinery for 23 years, retiring in 1990.
Katharina is survived by her five daughters Gertruda Lingley, Chris McGrath (Wayne), Helen O'Blenis (David), Rose Marie Sharpe (Darryl) and Susan Percy all of Saint John and surrounding areas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Regina Horvath (the late Stefan) of St. Albans, Australia; brother Martin Klein Jr. (Theresa) of Toronto, ON and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Nurses on Palliative Care for the exceptional and loving care given to our mom.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John. (646-2424) A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
