Henry "Hank" Colyer

COLYER, Henry Edward Roy (Hank)-aged 94, died peacefully in his sleep, September 3rd, at the Veterans’ Unit of the Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, NS. Husband of Elizabeth (Bette) Colyer (deceased), he is survived by his children, Jacquelin Fowler, Ford & Linda Colyer, Ted & Takae Colyer, Darrell & Carol Colyer, Heather & Greg Pyrcz, Robin Colyer & Peter Hamilton, his 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and his dear friends Cindy Grant, Bill & Sibyl Hamilton and Ed & Peg Gillis. Hank, a major in the Royal Canadian Engineer Corps, and later a manager in the Department of Public Works Canada, was an active member of every community in which he lived. He believed deeply in volunteer work and trying to leave a place “just a little bit better”. He will be remembered for his dedication, his courage, his organizational skills and sense of humour. A Lions Memorial Service was held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Legion Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Monday Sept. 7th. Funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 8th at Centrelea Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to the Centrelea Baptist Church or the Veterans’ Unit of the Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton. The family wish to thank all those in the Veterans’ Unit who made this last year for Hank full of thoughtful care, respect and downright fun.
