Dorothy Marcella Dumont, 92, of Sydney, formerly of New Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Roderick Hector ‘R.H.’ and Maryena (MacNeil) MacLean, New Waterford.
She attended Mount Carmel School in her early years. ‘Dot’ worked in nursing homes in Boston and Florida. A quiet and unassuming lady, Dot enjoyed travelling with her husband and with her sisters ‘The Golden Girls’. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Ernest Dumont in 1978, sisters, Christina ‘Tena’ MacQuarrie, Catherine ‘Snookie’ Currie, Euphemia ‘Phemie’ MacLean, brothers, Frank and Angus MacLean, by her sisters-in-law, Jessie Kavanaugh MacLean and Ruby Ross MacLean and brother-in-law Ambrose Currie.
There will be no visitation for the late Mrs. Dumont. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at 12 noon at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.
