It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marie on September 9, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 21, 1947 in Cape Breton. Marie’s greatest joy was her family, her loving husband of 50 years, Barry; her children, Billy (Denise) and Rose (Brent); grandchildren, Ryan (Michelle), Samantha (Brandon), Michael (Samantha), Amanda (Colin) and seven very much loved great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Gina, Helen, Ruby and Marilyn. Marie was happiest when surrounded by her family. She was very involved in Barry’s boxing career, becoming a national judge herself to encourage young people in the sport. Her main joy was creating a joyful home where family could gather. Friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life on Monday September 14th at 1:00 PM at the family home in Durham.
