Vera DesBarres

It is with heavy hearts the family of Vera Lovica DesBarres age 89 of Minudie announce her passing on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 surrounded by her loving children in prayer at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan.
Born in River Hebert, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Bertha (Amon) Landry.
Vera was a very active member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and a member of CWL for over 60 years as well as minister of the Eucharist. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed meeting with the girls for craft night. Vera also enjoyed knitting, playing cards, dancing and gardening. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend.
Vera is survived by 6 daughters Elaine (Terry) Thompson of Halifax, Bertha DesBarres of Amherst, Sheila (Phillip) MacKenzie of Minudie, Karen Francis (Randy Lester) of Grande Prairie, AB, twin daughters Cheryl (Russ) Snoble of Grande Prairie, AB and Sharon DesBarres (Raymond Jones) of Amherst; 2 sons Douglas DesBarres of Minudie and Paul DesBarres (Angela) of Grand Prairie, AB; 10 grandchildren Terry, Troy, Shelley, Roseanne, Adam, Sarah, Kara, David, Emily and Hannah; 4 great grandchildren Kayla, AJ, Cole and Chance; 2 great great grandchildren Isaiha and Ava ; brother Dara (Mae) Landry of Guelph, ON and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by husband Harry, brothers Abbie, Doug and Arthur; sisters Iva, Doris and Ruby.
Visitations will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. with Father Phil Thibodeau, held at Campbell’s Funeral Home, (98 Church St, Amherst, 902-667-9906).
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, River Hebert with Father Phil Thibodeau officiating.
Interment will take place in the St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie.
Donations in Vera’s memory may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Parish, River Hebert or to the St. Denis Church, Minudie.
