It is with heavy hearts that the family of Janet Flora Mattatall age 69 of Brookdale, NS announce her passing on Friday, September 11, 2015, surrounded by the wonderful nursing staff of the ICU and passed peacefully with their loving care at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Truro, NS she was a daughter of the late William A. and Nora L. (Stiles) Baxter, Trueman.
Janet worked for many years in the Amherst area principally at the Metropolitan and Zellers prior to her retirement.
She was a wonderful lady who loved animals and children. Her animals and her husband were her life. She never asked for anything and was always content with life. Janet loved our Dad and that was the most important thing to us. She did everything for him and he loves her so much and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Norby, step children Michelle (Dave) Chitty, Sandy (Bob) Boucher, Jill (Steve) Yorke and Tony Mattatall all of Amherst and area, brothers and sisters Cecil (Jessie) Baxter of Christ Church, New Zealand, Dale (Barbara) Baxter of Listowel, ON, Allan Baxter of Port Hardy, BC, Brenda (Ken) Guthrie of Fort Lawrence, Robert (Anne) Baxter of Dieppe, NB, Daphne Baxter (Philip Ackerson) of Fredericton, NB, Phillip (Barbara) Baxter of Truemanville, NS, Thelma Burke of Sackville, NB, Barbara (Brian) Conrad of Halifax, NS and Carol (Anthony) MacNeil of Hamilton, ON, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by brother in law Rene Burke and nephews Jason Burke and Kevin MacNeil.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 7 - 9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS, (902-667-9906).
Memorial donations in Janet’s memory may be made to the Cumberland Hospice Society or the L.A. Animal Shelter.
