ACKER, Gail Ann – age 64, Somerset, Kings Co., passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Hattie V. (Hallamore) Taylor. Gail was a very caring and devoted wife and mother and especially loved being a grandmother. She had most recently been employed at Frenchy’s in Berwick prior to her illness. Gail previously worked at Carters Restaurant in South Berwick, picked apples and looked after children in her home. She enjoyed playing bingo, collecting teddy bears, camping, travelling and walking. Gail enjoyed her mingling with friends and attending various community events. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, William A. “Bill” Acker; daughter, Roseann (Mark) Ward, Halls Harbour; sons, Anton (Sarah Shand), Kentville; Douglas (Helen), Waterville; grandchildren, Cody (Joy), Caitlin (Matt), Curtis, Colin (Sarah), Chaz, Tonia, Chianne, Wyomi, William, Makayla; great-grandson, Isaac; brothers, Phillip (Loretta) Taylor, Berwick; Alton (Rosalyn) Taylor, New Minas; Manson (Gisele) Taylor, Winnipeg, Man.; sisters, Margaret (Donald Veinotte) Little, Somerset; her twin, Gloria (Michael) Cudmore, Lower Cornwall; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, in the Berwick United Church, 240 Commercial St., Berwick, from where the funeral service and reception took place 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, Rev. Tom Woods officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. George, Dr. Dickson and all the nurses in Medical B Unit at Valley Regional Hospital who made Gail’s stay as comfortable as they could.
