BLAKELY, Alice Martha- age 91, of Treasured Memories Seniors Residence, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on August 30, 2015. Born in Salem, Yarmouth Co., N.S. she was a daughter to the late Elijah and Annie (Atkinson) Hurlburt. Alice was a loving housewife, mother, nannie, and friend to many. She was a devoted member of the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church and in her spare time enjoyed quilting and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Lucille (John) Tinkham, Brooklyn; son, Larry (Ruth) Blakely, Renfrew, ON; brother, Oscar, Wellington; sister, Mildred Porter, Yarmouth; 3 granddaughters and 8 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Samuel; brother, Arthur; sisters, Florence, Bessie, Evelyn, Ethel; son, Thomas; and great grandson, Josiah. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service was held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. from Yarmouth Wesleyan Church, Rev. John Symonds officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church.
