It is with great sadness that we, the family, regretfully announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Euphemia Wiseman. Phemie passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Bridgeport, mom was the daughter of the late Angus and Arabella (Stewart) Davidson and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She resided in the Bridgeport area of Glace Bay for the majority of her life and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
In her earlier years, she was employed with General Instruments and also with the fisheries in both Louisbourg and Glace Bay. She will also be remembered for being a caregiver for many families. Phemie enjoyed bingo, playing cards and going to the casino. Most of all, mom enjoyed family gatherings and reminiscing about her lifetime stories with her grandchildren.
Phemie will be sadly missed by her loving family; daughters, Sharon (William) McDonald, Patricia (David) Feaver, both of Glace Bay, Doreen Wiseman (Sander), Sydney Mines; sons, Jimmy 'Duffy' (Michelle), Glace Bay, Robert (Vangie), Alberta and daughter-in-law, Lorraine Davidson, Glace Bay. Mom will also be sadly missed by her cherished grandchildren, Lisa, Jamie, Kimberly, Donna, Jason, Ryan, Michael, Matthew, Ross, Jennifer and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Grace, Madison, Kelty, Daryan, Dawson, Aurora, Ethan, Deanne and one more on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mom will also be dearly missed by her very special friend, Mel Butts.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by husband, Francis 'Duffy' and son, Francis and by two brothers, Charles and Wallace Davidson.
In honouring mom’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A graveside committal service, officiated by Fr. Daniel Boudreau will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 in Calvary Cemetery, Glace Bay.
No flowers please. Memorial donations in Phemie’s memory may be made to the palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
