It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie Swetnam, age 62, on Thursday morning, September 17, 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. She succumbed to a long courageous battle against cancer, with her loving husband and family by her side.
Born in Parrsboro, NS, she was a daughter of the late Gerald “Jake” and Jessie (Lake) Brown.
Her greatest love in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially at the cottage.
Debbie was a great hostess of many gatherings including the annual tea party, bonfires with her grandchildren, as well as an avid gardener and a great cook.
She was known for her larger than life personality, laughter and love of all things feline, from her own cats to her many leopard prints.
Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Peter; son, Jason (Della), Toronto, ON; beloved grandchildren, Maisie and Jack; twin brother, Jerry (Bev), Parrsboro; sisters, Janice (Terry), BC, Cathy Hunter, Lorneville; nieces, January, Jennifer, and Ashton; nephew, Terry Jr; as well as many wonderful cousins and friends.
A private graveside service will be held at the Athol Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Debbie’s Life on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902-667-9906).
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Debbie’s memory may be made to the Cumberland Regional Health Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
