It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend Donald Gordon Boland, September 3, 1949 to June 28, 2015 passed away suddenly at the U of A Hospital Edmonton Alberta. He was born and raised in Mount Pearl and moved to Bay Roberts where he spent a great part of his life. From there he went to Fort McMurray, Alberta. Predeceased by his mother-in-law and fathers in-law Tom Wheeler (1965), Reginald Layman (1979) and Madeline Layman (2003). Don is survived by his wife Marlene (Wheeler) of 42 years, his two daughters Alison (Kevin Graves); Ashley (Jarred Matthews) and his precious grandchildren Noah and Laina (Matthews) all of Fort McMurray, AB. His parents James and Annie Boland of Mt. Pearl; siblings David (Alice) CBS; Lorraine (Gorden Parsons) Mt. Pearl; Garry (Leona) Mount Pearl and Deborah (Reuben Butler) CBS, NL. His in-law siblings Carl Wheeler (Lucy) Bedford, NS; Marie (Fred French) Bay Roberts; Meta (Ray Norman) Bay Roberts; Donna (Ed Stagg) Bay Roberts; Tom Wheeler (Dianne) Bedford, NS and Paul Wheeler (Heather) Toronto, Ontario. He also leaves behind a large extended circle of family and friends. Cremation has already taken place. Don may have lived in Alberta, but never missed an opportunity to call home. All are welcome to "A celebration of Life" to be held at the Worship Centre, Canada Drive, St. John's on October 2, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Northern Lights Health Foundation.
