Kenneth Edward Belyea, age 95 years, 8 months, of Herbert, Sk. passed away August 7, 2015 in Herbert. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from St Paul Lutheran Church, Herbert, Sk. with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The Interment Service was held at Herbert Community Cemetery. Ken was born on November 25, 1919, "at home", at Webb, a second son to Roy and Emma Belyea. To cherish his memory, he leaves two sisters, Francis of Winnipeg, Man. and Shirley of Irvine, Ab. Also his nephew Russell (Brenda) and their family of Moose Jaw, Sk. his niece Opal (Wayne) and their family of Tappen, B.C. and Niece Audrey of Winnipeg, Man. He was predeceased by his father Roy in 1947, his mother Emma in 1957, his brother Russell in 2003 and his sister-in-law Dorothy in 2010. The family moved to Herbert when Kenneth was seven and he was to call Herbert home for the next 87 years. He completed his public schooling at the Herbert School. He then enrolled and graduated from the Briercrest Bible School. Ken served in the army in World War ll. Kenneth was a builder and carpenter. His workshop was his second home. Making and fixing things was his life challenge. During his middle years he liked nothing more then to load his canoe, hook up the trailer and head for a mountain stream and some fishing. In wither time you might have spotted his skiing along some prairie trail. For some years he enjoyed the company and companionship of his poodle dogs. Later in retirement, he spent the winter months oil painting. Summer time he puttered around the yard or sat watching the birds flutter in his fruit trees. Thank you is extended to the providers of Meals on Wheels and to the deliverers. It was much appreciated by him. Also the family would like to say thanks you to those who stopped to say Hello or invited Ken for a coffee and pie or a meal. Thank you also to Dr. Kassett and the staff at the Herbert Integrated Hospital for your care during his stay with you. In Ken's memory, memorial donation may be made to the Herbert Hospital Patio Project, these would be appreciated by the family. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
