PARK FALLS – Mary Rose Henderson, 61, Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, formerly of Park Falls, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 in the home, after a difficult struggle with Alzheimer disease.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late William Archibald “Archie” and Mary Elizabeth “Mamie” (Stewart) Chisholm.
After graduating from St. Andrew’s Rural High School with a secretarial course, Mary was employed with the Bank of Commerce on St. F. X. Campus and then transferred to the Main Street branch.
Following her marriage to John in 1976, she moved to Pictou County where she became employed with the New Glasgow branch for over 23 years. Prior to the onset of Alzheimer’s she was employed with Sobeys Head Office, Stellarton.
Mary had been active in her community and had been a member of the former St. Ann’s Roman Church and CWL, Thorburn, where she had been active in the parish choir for many years. She volunteered for 10 years with the River Front Jubilee and the Dragon Boat Races. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, John; son, Kyle (Natalie), Park Falls; grandchildren, Alyssa and Baileigh; brothers, Bernie, Halifax; Vaughan (Elaine), Antigonish; Robert (Margie), Orangeville, Ont; Ronnie (Patti), Elmsdale; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Gladys Henderson, Antigonish.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law, John Henderson; sister-in-law, Gladys Hudson.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn.
