1918 - 2015
Passed peacefully away at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion on September 29, 2015. Lockhart "Lock' Hedges at the age of 97. He was born and raised in Carbonear and served in WWll from 1940 - 1945. He married Leah (Lil) Parsons from Freshwater, Carbonear in 1944 and together they moved to Montreal in 1948 where they lived until they retired and returned to live in St. John's in 1977. Predeceased by his wife: Leah (1990); parents: Robert and Flora Hedges; brothers: George (Julia), Clarence (Elsie), Tom (Dorothy), Herb (Bessie) and sister: Alma (Hayward Fraize). Leaving to mourn sister-in-law: Joyce Parsons; niece: Flora Crane (Reg) of St. John's; sister-in-law: Muriel Vaters and brother-in-law: George Parsons of Ontario; close friend: Lucy Dyke, as well as a number of nephews, nieces other relatives and friends. Many thanks to Dr. Blair Drover for his care over the years and to all the staff at the Veterans Pavilion. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 10 am - 12 pm. Funeral service will be held at Barrett's Chapel on Saturday at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
