Peter Chapdelaine, 85, of Sydney passed away peacefully on Oct. 2, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital, following a brief illness with family by his side.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late Fred and Matilda Chapdelaine.
Peter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Peter was a loyal fan of the Eagles hockey team. He served two tours in the Korean War. Peter was a member of Branch 151 Royal Canadian Legion, East Bay.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Anne (Johnston) Chapdelaine; his two sons, Fred, Sydney, Carter (Pam), Halifax; grandsons, Brandon, Clinton and granddaughter Nicole Chapdelaine. Peter is also survived by a brother Sam (Marlene); sisters, Edith Browner, Jean Warner, Christine Jewells. Peter is also survived by a very special friend Maurice MacKinnon.
He was predeceased by a brother Stanley, and Sister Lucy Deveaux.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Harbour View Hospital, and the Northside General, for their excellent care. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Jackson his longtime family physician, and Dr. Wawer. A very special thank you to Fr. Patrick O’Neil, also Margaret MacDonnell for all her support over the years.
There will be no visitation by request. Funeral arrangements pending.
Memorial donations can be made to the Vets wing of Harbour View Hospital, or a charity of one's choice.
