It is with heavy hearts, we the family, announce the passing of Eleanor (Alderson) McGean, on Oct. 4, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born on Dec. 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Beddow) Alderson.
Eleanor was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines. Eleanor enjoyed puzzles, knitting and baking, as well as sharing her baked goods with others.
Surviving are daughters, Susan McGean-White (David) and Nancy McGean; sons, Paul McGean (Belinda), Kevin McGean (Maggie) and Daniel McGean; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Jillian, Natasha, Shannon, Kaily, Randy, Kendra and Hannah; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Meredith; sisters, Eileen Romeo, Dorothy Webber and Sheila MacIntosh; brothers-in-law, Robert McGean (Jean), Melvin McGean, Edward McGean (Lillian) and Henry Dormiedy; sisters-in-law, Donna Brown, Mary Alderson, Jeannie McGean, Cynthia McGean. Also by close friends, Joe Lukeman and Mary Howell, and her friends at Ocean View, where she resided.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband, Lawrence McGean, brothers, Carl and David Alderson, as well as eight brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
A special thank you to Dr. Beth MacCormick, the staff of the cancer centre and the staff at the Northside General Hospital (4th floor West) for your care and compassion.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at 1 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Stacey Lemoine officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
Donations in Eleanor’s memory can be made to the C.B. Regional Cancer Centre Patient Care Fund.
