We regret to announce the passing of Florence Parrott, formerly of Glace Bay, N.S., and more recently the Richmond Villa in St. Peter's, N.S., on Oct. 5, 2015, at the age of 82.
Florence was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Ryan) Parrott and is survived by her sister, Margaret MacIsaac, Port Hawkesbury, N.S., and several nieces and nephews and their families, all of whom welcomed her gentle wit and kindness.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Malone, Theresa McDonald, Patricia Parrott and her brother, Michael Parrott.
Florence lived in Boston for several years, working with John Hancock Financial Services before returning home to care for her ailing parents in Glace Bay. Florence was never happier than when swimming in the Atlantic and was known to open her door to many stray cats and dogs that made their way to her kind care. Quiet and gentle, she also treasured her independence and had a great sense of fun.
The family would like to thank Dr. Collins, the caregivers and staff at the Richmond Villa, and family friend, Beverly Power, for her support. Supporting Florence's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Curry's Funeral Home in Glace Bay. A private family service will be held at a later date.
