Passed on: October 5th, 2015

ANDERSON, JAMES G. It is with deep sadness, the family of James Greig Anderson, age 95 of Swift Current, SK announces his passing away October 5, 2015 at Cypress House. Jim is survived by his son Gary Anderson (Paulette), daughter Jill Cavanagh and daughter-in-law, Lois Anderson; also by five grandchildren, Kim Plummer (Darren), Kerrie Lesko (David), Kelly Cavanagh Henderson (Darcy), Jamie Cavanagh Lopeter (Sean) and Michael Anderson. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his brother, Fred Anderson of Calgary, Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife Iola (1991), His wife Marguerite (Oct. 2014), son Ernie (Dec. 2014) son-in-law Gord Cavanagh (Aug. 2015). Dad started work in the Imperial Bank of Canada when he was 16 as a teller and retired in 1983 as the Vice-President of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce for Edmonton and the North West Territories. His job took him and his family to many cities as main branch manager, from Calgary, Jasper, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and finally Edmonton, where he retired. He made friends easily and had a golf “gruesome foursome” in each and every community he lived in. He also contributed to each community through Kiwanis, Shrine, Golf and Curling Clubs, treasurer of several organizations and chairman of many community events. He spent many winters in Hemet, California where his kids, Gary and Jill, now spend the winter. He was a dynamic personality and passed on a great work ethic to each of his kids and grandkids. He moved to Swift Current in Nov. 2014 and it was a privilege to have him with us for this last year. He was especially close to his son-in-law Gord Cavanagh and they could spend hours visiting. He also was so pleased to have his grandchildren and great grandchildren spend time with him. I am grateful to Cypress House staff and residents, for their support and love of Dad. A celebration of Dad’s life will be held in Calgary in the spring. We will miss him dearly.
