TRENTON - Katherine “Kay” Fancy. Kay, age 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 9, 2015.
She was born in New Glasgow on January 10, 1918, a daughter of Charles and Lena (Gammon) Johnston, of Newcastle, NB.
Mom worked at the Shell Finish Department, Trenton, and was a member of the Canadian War Army Corps, 1942-1946.
She was a faithful and active member of the First United Church where she taught Sunday school, mission band and was a member of UCW Mary Unit. She worked for the blood clinic and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, Trenton.
She is survived by her children: Marguerite Lewis, Toronto; Isabel (Tom) Davis, Union Centre; Marlene (David) Reback, Ontario; son-in-law, Alan Dunn, Fort McMurray; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Fancy, Trenton; and all of her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Keith; son, Lloyd; daughters: Elinor Fancy and Mildred Dunn; grandson, Shane Dunn; son-in-law, Jack Lewis; sisters: Elizabeth Fraser and Annie Phillips; brother, Herbert. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Wade Reppert officiating. A private committal service to follow. Donations in her memory may be made to First United Church, Trenton or the Aberdeen Health Foundation. Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 pm Tuesday to conduct their service. Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
