SURETTE, Mary Martha – age 94. It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Martha (Muise) Surette of Surette’s Island, Yarmouth Co., announce her sudden passing on October 12, 2015 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 20, 1921 in Surette’s Island, Mary Martha was the daughter of the late William and Mary Jane Muise and wife of the late Herman Surette. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother and an avid quilt maker. She was a lifelong parishioner and faithful member of St. Joseph’s Church, Surette’s Island. She is survived by a daughter, Laurie, Surette’s Island; sons, Brian (Jeanne), Wedgeport and Blair, Surette’s Island; step granddaughters, Cindy Cottreau and Debbie Pothier; sisters, Hazel Bourque, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau; Veronique Moulaison, Amirault’s Hill; Loretta Finlay, Mississauga, Ont.; Jessie Charron, Rockland, Ont.; brothers, Paul Muise (Jeanne), Melrose, Mass.; Gordon Muise (Esther), Wilmington, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman in 1997; brothers, Eloi Muise and Lester Muise. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday evening with prayers at 8 p.m. at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 15 from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island, Father Maurice LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
