It is with profound sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we the family of Murray MacDougall, 78 of Ironville, announce his passing on Oct. 13, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, he was the only son of the late Margaret (Murray) and Wilfred MacDougall.
Left with loving memories are his wife of 58 years Marguerite (Flynn) MacDougall, daughter Deborah (Gary) Yurchesyn, Sydney River, son Mark
(Cynthia) MacDougall, Fredericton, sisters, Emily (Leo) Deveaux, Sydney, and Lorraine (Terry) Flynn, Beaver Cove, chosen daughter Carol (Jamie)
MacDonald, Alberta, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "Poppy" leaves behind his adoring grandsons and great-grandsons, Jeffery and
Natosha Yurchesyn, and son Nicholas, Calgary, Justin and Jacqueline Yurchesyn and sons Ethan and Ewan, North Bay, and Christopher and Vanessa
Yurchesyn, Saint John, and chosen granddaughters Jessica and Sarah Beaney, Fredericton.
Dad enjoyed his many years spent with Mom, his family, and friends at his beloved Ironville home. Built by his own hands, he took great pride in
keeping it so beautiful. He loved everything about the mighty Bras d'Or and we cherish the memories of endless days on his boat exploring every
shoreline, jigging for cod, lazy beach days, bonfires, and glorious sunsets. A self-taught craftsman, and a man of many projects we will continue to love the things created by his hands. Always involved and forever supportive, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a good friend to many.
Life will not be the same without you, Dad.
Murray was a chartered member of the United Commercial Travellers.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by infant daughter Paula.
In keeping with his wishes his remains have been donated to medical education and research at Dalhousie University.
Thank you to the medical professionals who provided exemplary care over the past years. VON, Homecare, Dr. John Kirkpatrick, CBRH ICU staff & An Cala Palliative Care.
