William Duncan ‘Bill’ MacIvor

1930-2015
The death of William Duncan “Bill” MacIvor, 85, of Amherst, and formerly of Tidnish Bridge, occurred on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Gulf Shore, Cumberland Co, Bill was a son of the late Sanor and Varina (Ross) MacIvor.
Bill was a hard worker and considered himself a “Jack of all trades, master of none”. He was skilled with his hands and has built or repair several cottages in the area. He could always be found in his workshop or with his red ladder. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved to dance and was a big fan of the old time fiddle music.
Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Doreen (nee Embree) of Amherst; two sons, Kevin (Judy), Oakville, ON and Colin (Jean), Stellarton and a daughter, Jocelyn MacIvor, Amherst; six grandchildren, Keri (Stephen), Halifax, Patrick (Amanda), Tidnish, Angela, Oakville, Jenny (Ryan), Oakville, Eric, Stellarton and Danielle, Stellarton; three great grandchildren, Makayla, Oliver and Cole; a sister-in-law, Edna Britton, ON, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by, two brothers, Donald and Ivor; a sister, Marion Swain, and a nephew Ron.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 2 pm with a burial to follow in the Lorneville Cemetery. Rev. Byron Corkum presiding
Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Cumberland County Palliative Care/Hospice Society.
