LOGAN, DOLORES MARGARET (WARD) (TAYLOR)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Dolores Logan, age 88, at home in Harrietsfield, on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Born in Halifax, July 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Cecilia (Cormier) Ward of Armdale.
She is survived by her sister Pauletta Theriault (Moncton), sister-in-law, Valerie (Drew) Ward (Halifax), step-daughters Rosemary MacDougall (Mike McGrenere), Coleen Logan (Dr. Julia Sagebien), granddaughter Courtney MacDonald (Justin Sutherland) and great-grandson Aidan, many nieces and nephews, and special friends Anne Just, Jim and Debbie Melvin and family.
Dolores was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Taylor, second husband of 23 years, Bill Logan, brothers Harold, Bill, Jack and sister Mildred and infant sisters Juanita and Mary.
She worked in the wage office at The Bay until her retirement. Dolores was an accomplished vocalist and musician and was called upon to sing at many events. Her passion for music led her to teaching piano and voice for many years. In her early years she sang with the Armdale Chorus, under the direction of Mary Dee Girrior. They performed throughout the Maritimes and were heard nationally over CBC radio from 1947-58. Dolores was a faithful parishioner of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield and for many years directed their Liturgical Choir.
There will be no visitation by request. A celebration of Dolores’ life will be held October 26th at 11am at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield, Father Alfred Eshun officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
