Gwendolyn Jean TOPPING
July 10, 1923 – October 18, 2015

TOPPING, Gwendolyn Jean (nee - Brown) passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK on October 18, 2015, at the age of 92 years. Gwen was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on July 10, 1923.  She worked at Simpsons prior to marrying Alfred Topping on October 31, 1942. Their first son, Alfred Jr (Skip) was born in the East. When he was a year old Alfred and Gwen brought their infant boy to Prince Albert, SK. They had one more son, Terance (Terry) and a daughter Susan. Gwen and Alf visited Halifax often, mostly by train, but Gwen always commented that Prince Albert was HER home now. She is survived by her sons Alfred (Dorothy), Terance (Cathy) and daughter Susan (Ian) Bishop. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn and her husband John Stoddart; sister-in-law Ruth Brown and niece Pat Wrin who all remain in Halifax. She is survived by 4 granddaughters who meant the world to her, Lynn (Armand), Janice (Darcy), Angela (Marcus) and Melanie (Brad). In addition to her grandchildren she was blessed with 8 great grandchildren, Preston, Tyrell, Courtney, Chelsey, Cole, Grayson, Noah and Quinn.  She also had one great great grandson, Jace. Gwen also thought the world of Laura Carment as well as Brent and June Savard.  Gwen was predeceased by her loving husband Alfred who passed in 1978; her parents, John and Carolyn Brown; three siblings and an infant son Randall.  Gwen will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas, Director Spiritual Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to donor's choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
