The death occurred, surrounded by his family, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, of Kenneth Wayman Banks of Summerside, Veteran of Second World War, formerly Alberton and Poplar Grove, aged 90, beloved husband of Verna (England) Banks.
Born on May 10, 1925 in Poplar Grove, son of the late Ira and Alice (Henderson) Banks. Loving father to Shelley (Greg) Mierle, Bracebridge, ON; Paul (Carrie), Brooklyn, NY; Shannon (Joseph), Kilyanek, Wyses Corner, NS; Kenneth (Donna), Calgary, AB; Jeffrey (Marion), Wolfville, NS; and Cordell (Sherry), St. Albert, AB. Dear grandfather to Keir and Tegan Mierle, Jamie Banks, Sarah and Cole Kilyanek, Conlan, Jared and Samantha Banks and Alexis Banks, Michael and Brian Banks and 3 great-grandchildren Aiden, Grayson and Madeline. Kenneth is also survived by his brother Earl Banks, Summerside; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Gary) Rochford, Alberton; Freda Banks, Charlottetown; and Betty Maloney, Ottawa, ON. Predeceased by his parents, sister and brothers Robert, Ruby, Sterling, Stewart, Cody, Byron and his niece Christy Rochford.
Resting at Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel, with visiting hours on Saturday, October 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Freeland Presbyterian Church. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ellerslie branch #23 will hold a service of remembrance for their late comrade at the funeral home on Saturday evening at 6:45 p.m.
