It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Mary Catherine (Proctor) Cash on Oct. 21, 2015.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (MacEachern) Proctor.
She was a graduate of the former Saint Rita Hospital School of Nursing and received a post graduate certificate in operative technique and management from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal.
She worked for over 30 years in the operating room at Saint Rita Hospital and then the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, where she was well respected and loved among her nursing colleagues as a leader, mentor and friend.
As a mother, she was extremely proud of her three daughters and always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, George; daughters, Colleen (Derek Jury) Halifax; Catherine (Brad) Jacobs, Sydney River and Alana (Rob MacKinnon), London, UK.; grandchildren, Thomas, Luke and Logan Jacobs, Sydney River and Teaghan Jury, Halifax. Her brothers William 'Bill' (Mary), Sydney; John 'Jack' (Lillian) Sydney Mines; Donald (Patsy) Tremont, N.S.; Robert (Jean), Lower Sackville; her sister, Sr. Anne Marie Proctor, CSM, Antigonish and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25th at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday Oct. 26th at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Alex MacLellan officiating. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation or the Nova Scotia Hospice Palliative Care Association.
