MILLS, Marvin Douglas – 76, of Halifax passed away peacefully Oct 22, 2015 in his home at Ivany Place. Born in Springhill, NS, he was the son of Harry and Barbara (Jeffers) Mills.
Marvin served our country as a member of our Air Force, was a dependable friend and brother, a talented musician, a sports fan, a lover of nature, and a smart, witty man who faced life and the challenges it brought with a positive attitude and never a complaint. He was lucky to have found love twice in his lifetime. He shared that love with his own family and extended family. His eyes sparkled when he was with Jeffrey and Cindy, as their Dad he was so proud of who they were and their achievements. He adored Kyla and Nathan, and have touched their lives in a way that a grandfather’s love does with strength and compassion. He will be forever in our hearts. Thank you to all of our family and friends for your love and support. A very special thank you to his partner the late Kathleen Crawford for being so generous in making his life enjoyable and being a true partner, caregiver and friend. Our family can’t thank her enough for all she had done.
Marvin is survived by daughter, Cindy; son, Jeffrey (Dana); stepson, Robert (Darlene) Crawford; step-daughter, Karen Crawford and grandchildren Kyla Mills, Nathan Mills; Dwayne Crawford and Brandon Crawford; brothers Harry (Kay) Mills and William Mills and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving partner Kathleen Crawford, sisters Gertrude and Lucetta, brothers Oliver, Edward, Charles, Donald and Hugh.
Cremation is to take place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Under the wishes of Marvin, there will be no service or ceremony. Donations can be made to the Parkinson Society, Maritime Region or a charity of your choice.
