It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Alexander Campbell, age 70, beloved father, grandfather, partner, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
John was born in North Sydney, Jan. 14, 1945, he was the son of the late Hugh and Mary Margaret (MacInnis) Campbell.
John was employed with Sydney Steel Corporation until his retirement. John enjoyed the sport of harness racing, antique cars, playing 45s, square dancing, listening to Celtic music, socializing and conversation with family and friends.
John is survived by his son Ryan Campbell, Vancouver, his daughter Amber (Allister) Brown, Calgary, his two grandchildren Charlotte and Oliver Brown, his loving partner Lois Allen, his sister Ann Marie (Dan) MacLean, Sydney River, his brother Joe (Rosella) Campbell, Sydney, the mother of his children Heath Campbell, his nieces and nephews, Allan, Shaun, Joelle and Danielle and eight grandnieces and nephews, special uncle Peter Campbell, as well as a number of other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a brother Pat.
Visitation for John will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale, with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating and John’s uncle, Rev. Dan MacInnis con-celebrating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
